'Trump is not going to be president'

By SARAH WESTWOOD

Gov. John Kasich dismissed suggestions Sunday that Donald Trump could become the Republican presidential nominee as the real estate mogul maintains his lead heading into the beginning of primary season.

"Trump is not going to be president, and he's not going to be our nominee," Kasich said during an appearance Sunday on CBS' "Face the Nation." "It's not going to happen."

The Ohio governor admitted "the people are very frustrated," but denied that frustration would hand the nomination to Trump.

"We need to fix problems," Kasich argued. "We're not going to fix them by yelling and screaming."

Kasich, a relative moderate in the Republican presidential field, has struggled to break through after entering the race later than most rivals. He said this week that he will consider dropping out if he fairs poorly in New Hampshire's crucial primary.
Kasich condemned Trump's controversial proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the country on a temporary basis.
"We don't need more division, and everybody who's a Muslim isn't some terrorist," he said.
