ACQUITTAL OF ASIF ALI ZARDARI IN SGS-COTECNA CASE AGAIN PROVED THAT PPP HAS ALWAYS BEEN TARGETED THROUGH FAKE CASES: BILAWAL BHUTTO

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party has said that acquittal of former President Asif Ali Zardari in SGS-Cotecna case by concerned court has once again proved that the leadership of PPP has always been targeted through fake cases and references after their adversaries failed to politically challenge them.
In a press statement, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the acquittal of Asif Ali Zardari has also vindicated the positions of Begum Nusrat Bhutto and the Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto besides the former President. “Through hounding the PPP leadership, successive regimes orchestrated a witch-hunt and victimization through fabricated cases costing millions of rupees to the state exchequer for nearly two decades. However, the regimes could not prove any charge against despite dragging PPP leadership from court to court and prisons to torture cells for several years,” he added.
PPP Chairman said that People’s government had doubled the revenues through introducing pre-shipment inspections of goods entering the country but the opponents colored it a scandal to discredit and victimize the PPP leadership under a conspiracy.
He said that PPP leadership including Begum Nusrat Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari but they were deliberately besieged and targeted by the dictatorial forces and their stooges to harm country’s popular and patriot political leadership and the growing economy.
Bilawal Bhutto further said that from SGS-Cotecna PSIs to IPPs, the PPP government always laid foundations for a sound economy where pilferage of revenues and electricity crisis would be unheard of but our enemies always fabricated our far-reaching projects into fake scams. “Those who initiated and pursued such references against PPP leadership in fact committed economic treason, which should be unpardonable,” he added.
PPP Chairman said that multi-millions spent on the initiation, investigations and prosecution of the case in the form of secret funds, legal fees in national and international currencies and trips abroad of Ehtesab Bureau, NAB and FIA officials should be recovered. “Those initiating the reference should offer apology for dragging Asif Ali Zardari into prisons for several years and imposing exile on former Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto,” he demanded.
