Shazia - Pakistan’s first female fire fighter

A young woman Shazia Parveen is going to become Pakistan’s first female fire fighter, a foreign news channel reported.

Twenty-five-year old Shazia, who lives in a small village in South Punjab, wanted to prove that women could work alongside men regardless of how challenging the job was. Her training included learning to swim, jump, fight fire, and climbing up roofs with the help of ropes.

Rescue 1122 said that Shazia is the first female firefighter in Pakistan, and perhaps in all of Asia. “Some women avoid and hesitate to work with men. That is where I differ with them and think that we, women, can work shoulder-to-shoulder with men,” she said.
