PAKISTANI POLITICIANS NOT SATISFIED WITH PMLN GOVERNMENT’S YEMEN POLICY

Defence Minister of Pakistan Khwaja Mohammad Asif gave an assurance to the Pakistani parliamentarians that Pakistan was not sending troops to join Saudi-led war coalition against Yemen. But, many Pakistani politicians were not satisfied and urged the government to desist from joining any U.S.-Saudi alliance in Yemen or elsewhere.

Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf’s Chairman Imran Khan advised the Pakistani regime to encourage diplomatic and negotiated peaceful solution instead of backing military solution in Yemen. He alerted PMLN government to beware of the consequences of joining foreign war coalition.
His PTI and Awami National Party opposed the Saudi desire for Pakistan army to join them in anti-Yemen war.
ANP cited that Afghanistan policy of Pakistan should have been a lesson for Pakistan’s powers that be and they should not repeat the huge strategic mistake they did in Afghanistan by joining Saudi-US alliance.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafari of MWM and Allama Sajid Naqvi of the SUC also warned Pakistani rulers to learn lesson from meddling into internal affairs of any other country. They wanted Pakistan army leadership to clarify whether they are part of the Saudi-led coalition or not.
Pakistan’s toeing the Saudi line against Syria, Yemen and Iran has angered a vast majority of Pakistanis who began mass protest rallies and meetings to condemn the Saudi aggression on Yemen and Yemenis Houthi Ansarullah Movement who are legitimate stake-holder in Yemen and an unavoidable political player in the national dialogue and political process.
