‘Sacrifices of tribesmen against terrorism not to go waste’

The Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Barrister Masood Kausar on Tuesday said that sacrifices rendered by the tribesmen against terrorism would not be let go waste adding that the government and the people of Pakistan were highly indebted to those who laid their lives for a great national cause. The government, he said would provide every support to the families of martyrs and mitigate their sufferings whatsoever. He expressed these views while addressing a gathering of tribesmen of Khyber Agency at Governor’s House here in which compensation cheques were distributed amongst the affectees of Jamrud suicide attack.

The Governor on this occasion handed over 94 cheques worth Rs. 22.3 million including 33 cheques worth Rs. 0.4 million each to the heirs of deceased and 61 worth Rs.0.15 million to the injured people. The Governor also announced a wheel chair to each physically handicapped injured and handed over one to Shah Daraz of Jamrod, who also received compensation cheque on the occasion.

The Governor said that compensation never could be the better substitute to the value of human life. “It is simply a token amount to indicate that the government fully shares the anguish and grief of the affected families”, he added. The Governor said that peace would be maintained in FATA at every cost. Besides security personnel, the people from every segments of the society including officials, political workers, elders, traders, students and men, women and children in the streets have suffered due to terrorism.

“It is because of these sacrifices that we have achieved tremendous successes by clearing majority of areas from the terrorists and miscreants and restored writ of the government”, he added. The Governor said that people of highly affected areas would be given more attention in the process of development and social uplift programs. Governor Masood Kausar said that violence and terrorism were unjustified in a democratic society, where the people were the real rulers through their democratically elected representatives. “Now we have democratized the tribal areas as well by allowing political activities in FATA, where the tribesmen are now at liberty to join any political party of their choice and participate in politicking”, he said.

He said that we were striving for the development of tribal areas using our own resources as well as seeking assistance from the friendly countries and international donors. “We are facing a big challenge to rehabilitate and reconstruct damaged infrastructure in FATA” he said and hoped that this huge task would be completed in a shortest possible time. Talking about certain points raised on the occasion, the Governor said that FATA was being turned into a trade corridor through development of international standard communication network.

Earlier MNA Maulana Noorul Haq Qadri led collective prayers for the martyrs of all terrorist attack particularly the Jamrud incident. A tribal elder Malik Darya Khan also spoke on the occasion and said that tribesmen of Khyber Agency were peace loving and loyal to the country and would never hesitate to offer sacrifice for the country and the nation.
